Optimal Work
OptimalWork had an existing product on the market, so we needed to get an in-depth understanding of it before we could begin our redesign. We started by conducting a UX audit to identify what was working and what areas needed improvement.
The existing app had a lot of useful content as well as an engaging set of accompanying tools. There was also a solid academic foundation to back the platform.
However, some issues needed to be addressed. The branding was dated and inconsistent, and different parts of the application did not feel cohesive. The layout was also confusing with tools and content scattered, making it unclear where a user should start their journey.
Overall, there was a valuable foundation of useful features, but the platform looked more like an MVP than a polished, well-thought-out product.
To learn about the product’s target audience, we conducted user interviews. We spoke with existing OptimalWork users with the aim of understanding their needs, pain points, and desires.
The research gave us invaluable insights into the company’s strengths and weaknesses, and we were able to derive two personas that represented their main users.
With the research complete, we were able to refine the design and complete a high-fidelity prototype with a complete branding refresh.
The final design featured a simplified interaction model, improved organization, and serene visuals. We also introduced a number of features that made the platform more unified and easy to use.
Once we had an outline for the redesign and a solid wireframe, we conducted concept validation research. We spoke with existing OptimalWork users, showing them the new design plans and getting their feedback on the changes.
By testing our ideas with real users, we ensured that our updates would be well-received. It also gave us a deeper understanding of the user needs, which we used to guide our final design.
Beyond delivering a polished, high-fidelity prototype, we ensured a smooth handoff by collaborating closely with the development team. The redesigned platform not only improved user satisfaction but also strengthened OptimalWork’s positioning for enterprise adoption and long-term growth.
With the final deliverables organized and packaged, we handed it all off to the client, who had this to say about our work:
